History

In 1935, Judge Beeman Strong, former Commission of Appeals Judge and General Counsel of Yount-Lee Oil Co., joined his son Ewell, and A.D. Moore, to form the Beaumont law firm of Strong, Moore & Strong. With a wealth of oil company legal experience, the firm quickly established itself as a valuable resource for growing companies in Southeast Texas. Clients included leading Beaumont-based businesses and regional and national energy, rail and chemical companies.

As Texas grew, so did the firm. Charles Pipkin joined the firm in 1954 bringing his extensive insurance and railroad litigation practice, complementing the broad-based practice of the existing firm.

The firm was evolving to a litigation practice in the early 1970s when products liability and toxic tort litigation began to grow in Texas, much of it in Southeast Texas. John Bissell, David Ledyard, Michael Baker, and Daniel Ducote –all partners in the firm today– joined during this era, extending the firm's practice in Southeast Texas and to a wider variety of litigation.

By the late 1980s, Strong Pipkin had more than twenty lawyers. In the mid 1990s, John Bissell established the firm's Houston office, reflecting the firm's growing statewide practice.

Today, Strong Pipkin has more than thirty lawyers and a large support staff in both cities. Our offices are located on four floors of the San Jacinto Building in Beaumont and at 1301 McKinney, Suite 2100 in downtown Houston.
